CHARLES F. BROOME and Bayley’s Primary have taken the early lead as the finals of the Pine Hill National Primary Schools’ Athletics Championships got underway at the Usain Bolt Sports Complex.
Behind two winning performances from Daniel Duncan, Bayley’s are in prime position among the boys with 82 points. Reynold Weekes Primary are second with 28 points and All Saints third with 26.
It is much closer among the girls where Charles F. Broome have 33.5 points, just ahead of West Terrace Primary (27) and Wesley Hall (23).
Duncan won the boys’ 800 metres in 2 minutes 26.38 seconds and came back to take the Under-13 boys’ 400 metres in 1:01.46.
Jahzara Holford of West Terrace won the girls’ 600 metres in 1:47.61.
The first record of the day went to Asabi Callender of Hilda Skeene with 54.84 metres in the Under-13 girls’ cricket ball throw. The old record was 53.81m set by Chazelle Cumberbatch in 2007.
