THE NATIONAL UNION OF PUBLIC WORKERS (NUPW) is urging Government to come back to the bargaining table so public servants can finally get their due.
In a strongly worded press statement yesterday, treasurer Asokore Beckles, who is also chairman of the NUPW’s salary, wages and accounts committee, chided Government, claiming it was treating public servants with scant respect.
“The union is once again calling for the Government to come back to the negotiation table,” he said, arguing that if the current administration felt comfortable with giving back ministers ten per cent of wages cut, public servants should also be considered for an immediate pay hike. . . ” (BA/PR)
