C&W: Time to end unfair system

CABLE WIRELESS (C) is prepared to continue its major investments in Barbados but wants the current “unfair”and “anachronistic” regulatory environment modernised.

Garry Sinclair, the new head of C’s Caribbean business, said “the regulation based solely on the fact that we have a market-leading fixed line business ought to be relaxed and we ought to look at the voice market as a single voice market and regulate it accordingly”.

He raised his concerns yesterday during a press conference at the Warrens headquarters of C, which trades as Flow.

The Jamaican said the telecommunications company had already demonstrated its “considerable amount of investment” in Barbados by installing a full Fibre-To-The-Home network and LTE mobile network. (SC)
