IT’S ON TO the next one for Darian King.
Barbados’ top-ranked tennis pro has advanced to the second round of his latest ATP Masters 1000 event, having beaten Lukas Lacko in straights sets at the Miami Open this evening.
Playing on court seven, the 24-year-old world no.121 battled back from down a break in the first set before coming through with a 7-6(2), 6-4 victory over the 114th ranked Lacko.
The result puts him into a huge second-round matchup with world no.12 David Goffin, who is seeded eighth in this tournament.
It comes less than two weeks after King shocked world no.11 Gael Monfils in the first set before losing their second round match at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells. (JM)
