Are you where you always wanted to be?

Yes, I am satisfied with where I am at Virgo Communications. There is always room for growth in my personal and professional life.

What is your biggest professional challenge?

My profession is very deadline-driven, and sometimes prioritising the competing demands can be a bit challenging. However, my day to day interaction with the Virgo team and our clients always keeps it interesting.

What is your biggest life challenge?

Being the parent of two teenagers and trying to raise them as well-adjusted and productive adults.

When you look to the future what do you see?

Big picture: Barbados on an accelerated growth path.

Personal: Being at peace, enjoying good health and the simple things of life.

What’s your favourite pastime?

Enjoying a nice dinner, reading, watching inspiring true life movies and sewing, which I don’t have a lot of time for now; but I do enjoy it when I am creating something new.

What’s your favourite meal?

Salt fish with anything – split peas and rice, cou cou or fishcakes.

On Saturday nights, where are you likely to be?

I value family time, so I’m usually at home watching a movie and relaxing.

What upsets you the most?

Unfairness. I consider myself to be a fair person; so to see anyone being treated unfairly and unable to defend themselves really upsets me, especially children and the elderly.

What is your guiding philosophy?

Primary school motto: Can’t is a man who doesn’t try; always say “I’ll try” and leave I can’t alone.

If you had the chance to manage Barbados for a day, what would you do?

As a country, I feel like we’ve developed to a point and stopped. I would like to engage with people who can conceptualise big ideas. The people who can have an input on achieving the objectives will fire on all cylinders to make them happen.

These big ideas can come from anyone, from the average citizen to the leaders. We don’t have to have all the answers that minute, but with a “can do” attitude, collectively we can figure it out and make them happen over time. (SC)
