KATIE MAYNARD thought she was doing her civic duty when she willingly gave up a significant portion of her land at Greenwich Village, St James, so that Government could widen the road.
Four structures were removed, including her son’s house, to facilitate this process.
However, while she was compensated for the use of her land, Maynard said she was not paid for the demolition of those structures and her son was still waiting for Government to rebuild his house, 17 years after it was torn down.
An upset Maynard said that repeated calls and letters to the Ministry of Transport and Works (MTW) over all these years had not yielded any positive response. She has also written to the Ombudsman, among others, but to no avail.
