MINSTER OF EDUCATION Ronald Jones has slammed Barbados Labour Party supporters seeking to be elected on the National Union of Public Workers’ (NUPW) executive, less than two weeks ahead of the vote.
So upset was Jones about those whom he called Team BLP within the NUPW, that he insisted at a Democratic Labour Party (DLP) branch meeting in St Andrew last night at the Alleyne School, that many trade unionists turned politicians were turning in their graves at what was now taking place.
“Every one of those persons on a particular side are all members of the Barbados Labour Party. Strong . . . supporters of the Barbados Labour Party . . . . They could as well call themselves Team BLP.”
Pointing to trade union leaders publicly holding hands of political leaders at marches, the minister suggested that politicians were now becoming industrial relations leaders to advance their own cause and that of the opposition party. (WILLCOMM)
