BARBADOS IS SET to benefit significantly from the hosting of CARIFESTA XIII in August.
With the festival budget set at $6 million, Minister of Culture Stephen Lashley has predicted a favourable outcome for the island from the regional arts and cultural exposition.
“Suffice to say that we in Barbados are gearing up for one of the biggest cultural extravaganzas to come to our shores in a very, very long time,” he said while delivering the feature address at the Lloyd Erskine Sandiford Centre for the launch yesterday.
Noting that the last time Barbados held the regional multicultural event was in 1981, Lashley noted that first CARIFESTA cost the island $25 million. (AD)
