COACH COLIN Harewood is pleased with the progress the Barbados football team have made ahead of the Windward Islands Tournament in May.
They were defeated in their first international practice match against Trinidad and Tobago 2-0, but won their second match against Martinique 2-1 at the Usain Bolt Sports Complex on Sunday night.
“The two games we played – the one against Trinidad, and against Martinique – really helped us to give ourselves a gauge of where we are at. The games against quality teams really helped to prepare us for the Windward Islands Tournament,” he said.
“The good thing about playing against Trinidad and Martinique was that they are ranked higher than Barbados, so we will be better prepared to face our opponents. The opposition we played was of high quality and we didn’t [just] participate, I think we did compete against both of those teams.” (RG)
