Debating team named for competition in Indonesia

BARBADOS’ TEAM FOR the World Schools Debating Championship has been announced.

Come August 1, five secondary school students will travel to Indonesia on behalf of the Barbados Debating Society.

Speaking at Harrison College this morning, BDS president Carl Applewhaite explained that the championships represented the premier international debating championship in the world.

In addition to this, he noted that it was the only academic competition in which Barbados participated.

The team comprises David Thompson and Khamal Scantlebury from Harrison College, Nia Marshall and Khaleel Kothdiwala from Queen’s College and Dia Parris from St Michael School. (AD)
