Moreover, the entire region has been told to be alert for a possible major earthquake, though when and where it could hit was not known.
Director of the University of the West Indies Seismic Research Centre, Dr Joan Latchman, said earthquakes continued to hit the region on a daily basis and that level of seismic activity was expected to continue.
In 2015, the Caribbean experienced two major earthquakes – one 6.6 and the other of 6.4 magnitude – which were strongly felt in Barbados. Latchman said since then there had been more than 400 aftershocks in that area. (LK)
