“WE MEKIN’ sport at sports!”
That was the unanimous sentiment of patrons, coaches and physical education (PE) teachers yesterday on the first day of the finals of the Powerade Barbados Secondary Schools Athletics Championships (BASSAC).
The drums returned to the National Stadium, but only temporarily as the Barbados Cadet Corps played during the opening ceremony before exiting the field.
For some coaches and spectators, the main concerns were the absence of drums among the student spectators and the continued unavailability of the stands, which have been declared unsafe and were cordoned off. (RA)
