THE QUIET NEIGHBOURHOOD of Windsor Road, Bank Hall, St Michael, was disturbed early yesterday morning when a fire destroyed four uninsured homes and damaged another, leaving four people homeless.
When a NATION team arrived on the scene, the pungent smell of embers filled the air, and those affected stood on the opposite side of the road, on the compound of CRS Building and Maintenance, looking on in despair.
An upset Gloria Greaves, at whose home the blaze started, stood quietly in a corner with friends contemplating her next move.
“I can’t tell you what happen. All I can tell you is I was asleep and I heard a noise. I don’t even know how to explain it. But when I did jump up, I see the house engulfed. The fire start from the above part, and some place where nobody does be in. I alone was home,” she said. (RA)
