A NEW MAGISTRATE has been appointed to the Oistins Magistrates’ Court.

Principal Crown Counsel Elwood Watts will take the bench there on Monday. The position had been vacant for several months.

Setting down his prosecutor hat, Watts said he was looking forward to his new role.

For the past two years he had been prosecuting in the No. 5 Supreme Court, where Justice Jacqueline Cornelius presides.

Speaking last Thursday, she said Watts had been a part of an exceptional team in the court who contributed to reducing the backlog and dealing with matters with a level of preparation, enthusiasm, intellectual skill and courtesy “that marks a good prosecutor”. (TKS)
