BARBADOS AND Guatemala are tied after the opening day of their Davis Cup Group II Americas tie.

Playing at the National Tennis Centre, Christopher Diaz put the visitors up briefly by beating Bajan no.3 Adam Hornby before Darian King predictably levelled the tie some hours later.

The 24-year-old King strolled to a 6-2, 6-1, 6-1 victory over Luciano Ramazzini in an hour and 42 minutes after Diaz rolled over Hornby 7-5, 6-0, 6-2.

King and Haydn Lewis are slated to play the doubles against Diaz and Wilfredo tomorrow at the same venue. (JM)
