Old GEED building stripped

SLOWLY BUT SURELY under the cover of night, vagrants have been stripping bare the old Government Electrical Engineering Department (GEED) building on Bay Street, St Michael.

A resident who wanted to remain anonymous alleged that over the last year vagrants have systematically removed copper, electrical fittings, galvanised sheets, plywood and even the doors and windows of the building, which stands less than 50 metres away from the planned site of the Hyatt Centric Resort. government-electrical-engineering-department-2

He said a group of organised vagrants was stripping and taking the materials off site in an old supermarket trolley.

The man explained that the vagrants had set up residence in the gutted building, defecating in it and using it as sleeping quarters. (AD)
