Grass fires keep firemen busy on Good Friday

GRASS AND RUBBISH FIRES had firemen on their toes today.

Fire officials reported 11 calls to put out the flames across the island with a major grass fire occurring near The Belle, St Michael, that affected traffic between the Norman Niles and Clyde Walcott roundabouts around midday.

There were also reports that smoke which drifted across the highway caused a three-vehicle accident. (JS)
