DEAR CHRISTINE: Boyfriend won’t stop beating me

Dear Christine,

I HOPE THAT YOU and some of your readers can help me.

I am not married, but I have a boyfriend who I love very much. We were going together for seven years and for all those years I have been honest to him, but he just thinks that all women cheat on men and so he is always accusing me and beating me up.

He is nice in everything except for the beatings. Christine, I do not provoke his anger as I would not even talk back. I am at the point of leaving him for good.

I’ve come to realise that these beatings are not a result of anything I say or do, but because he is jealous.

Men who are jealous and beat a woman do not realise that this is often the cause of their leaving them. I feel these men must have a problem in growing up that they take it out on women.

– S.P.

Dear S.P.,

The picture that you’ve painted of your boyfriend is not a nice one at all, so don’t say he is nice in everything except for the beatings. No nice man is going to beat his girlfriend.

Beatings are not a way of showing love, as many women seem to think. From the first time he laid his hand on you, you should have ended the relationship.

If you are on the point of leaving him for good as you claimed, then put on your walking shoes, walk away from this abuse, and don’t look back.

– CHRISTINE
