Bail for man charged in death of police officer

THE MAN CHARGED in the death of a police officer has been granted bail.

Tre Shaquile Murray was charged with causing the death of Station Sargeant Clifford Bridgeman by dangerous driving.

Murray, 23, of Spring Hall, St Thomas, appeared in the District A Magistrates court today before Magistrate Douglas Frederick.

He was also charged with driving without due care and attention and driving without reasonable consideration for others using the road

All offences allegedly occurred on March 26 at the junction of Edgecumbe Hill and Carrington Road, St Philip.

Murray, a student, was not required to plead to the charges.

As there were no objections by Prosecutor Station Sergeant Neville Reid, Murray was granted $15 000 bail with one surety and asked to surrender his passport by Wednesday.

He is scheduled to return to the District C Magistrates Court on May 17. He was represented by attorneys Sian Lange and Shamar Bovell. (TKS)
