3Ws busts to be secured

A PRIVATE SECTOR COMPANY should be coming on board to secure the area around the 3Ws busts at Wanstead Park, St Michael.

This has been revealed by Arturo Edwards, who was one of the creators of the busts of cricketing legends Sir Clyde Walcott, Sir Frank Worrell and Sir Everton Weekes.

A month ago, it was discovered that someone had decapitated the bust of Sir Clyde Walcott which sits in the middle of the tribute to the 3Ws.

The head was positioned on the ground looking up at the other two busts of Sir Frank and Sir Everton. That same day, Edwards said he had rescued the head and that it could be restored and refitted. Two plaques, commemorating the involvement of a number of companies, have also been chipped off and placed to lean against the stone base.

Edwards told the DAILY NATION this week that until the area was secured, he would not be replacing the head of Sir Clyde’s bust.

“A major private sector concern has said it will put up proper fence work but we are waiting on the black and white.

“It’s no point working with it and there is no security for it, and somebody mash it up again,” he said. (HLE)
