JARAD SANDIFORD pulled off an impressive win over national player Kristian Doughty to lead Rising Sun to an emphatic 3-0 Premier League triumph over Barbados Defence Force Sports Programme at the Table Tennis Centre, Nursery Drive, Saturday night.

The evergreen Chris Banfield played brilliantly to beat Russell Maxwell in straight games but the highlight of the opening night of the Barbados Table Tennis Association’s domestic club season was the sublime display of disciplined and attractive table tennis from Sandiford.

He dropped just one game in beating the talented Doughty 11-8, 11-4, 9-11, 11-6.

Banfield, as tough a competitor now as he was when he competed on the tables at the Ricks Hall in Deacons Road back in the eighties, outplayed the youthful but plucky Maxwell 11-6, 11-5, 11-7. (PH)
