Absence of furniture delays CXC exams

FOR THE SECOND day running, private candidates sitting Caribbean Examinations Council exams had a late start.

Teenagers, their parents and adult sitters were thrown into a state of confusion this morning when they turned up at the Kensington Oval Bond and found that no tables were available.

The furniture was reportedly supposed to arrive from New Dimensions Ministries two hours ahead of the 9 a.m. exams but they didn’t come until around 9:45.

The CSEC Social Studies and CAPE Caribbean Studies exams were delayed by an hour as candidates waited on the outside.

Yesterday, some students scheduled to take a mathematics exam at New Dimensions Ministries had to be sent to Springer Memorial Secondary School because of insufficient furniture at the church. (See story here.)

The disruption is due to the unavailability of the Wildey Gymnasium which was used in previous years. (SB)
