SOME CALLED it war at the Garrison Savannah, while others referred to it as a fight between David and Goliath.

But Guyana maintained their dominance with a 34-26 victory over arch-rivals Barbados in the first round of the annual Rugby Americas North Men’s XVs Tournament last Saturday.

The Guyanese got the first scoring opportunity, when a Barbados infraction gave Ryan Gonsalves the chance at a penalty kick, which he missed.

When the game restarted, Barbadian Harold “Roadblock” Bynoe suffered a blow to the head while jumping for the ball and was forced to sit out the remainder of the match. (RA/PR)
