BARBADOS-BASED ALEX DAVIS grabbed five records in the recently concluded tenth Vertical Blue Free-diving Competition held at Dean’s Blue Hole in Long Island, Bahamas.

Known as the crème de la crème of free diving, the competition attracted 15 women and 28 men, representing 19 countries. Divers endured nine days of competition, with six dives a piece.

The English national, a first-time competitor, placed ninth overall in the competition, which garnered three world records and 47 national records.

“One of my dives I got halfway down and turned around and came back up. I wasn’t feeling in a good mood that day. I got to 40 feet and turned around on the second to last dive,” he told the SATURDAY SUN. (RA)
