THERE WILL BE no King or Queen of the Crop for Crop Over 2017. And once again there will be no Cohobblopot. However, after “intense discussion” on threatened action, there will be an $80 000 increase in money to bandleaders.

These revelations were made yesterday by Minister of Culture Stephen Lashley at an update on the 2017 festival.

Other changes announced include venues for the Junior Monarch Semi-finals, the opening gala, the visual arts exhibition and the Pic-O-De-Crop Semi-finals.

In addition, Lashley said that after talks with the Royal Barbados Police Force, there would be an extension of opening hours for Bridgetown Market. (NS)
