Fire destroys one home, damages two

ONE HOUSE WAS destroyed and two others were damaged when fire broke out at 1st Avenue, Beckles Hill, Beckles Road, St Michael around 1:40 a.m. today.

Forty-five-year-old Fabian Agard lost his one-bedroom wooden house to the blaze.

The damaged homes were wooden structures belonging to 79-year-old Adrian Garnes and 64-year-old Neville Gittens.

The origin of the fire is unknown at this time. Police say a neighbour heard what appeared to be the sound of breaking glass and on looking outside, saw the Agard’s resident a blaze.

Agard was not at home.

Two fire tenders and eight fire officers under the command of acting deputy chief fire officer Errol Gaskin and station officer Clarence Hinds responded to the blaze.
