YOUNG BARBADIAN cricketers continue to benefit from the relationship between the Lancashire Cricket Board and the Barbados Cricket Association. The latest beneficiaries are Shakeem Clarke and Jadeja Edwards.
The two young cricketers left the island on Monday bound for Manchester, England, where Clarke will play with Sefton Park Cricket Club, and Edwards with Wavertree Cricket Club until September 18.
Clarke, a fast bowler and son of the late West Indies fast bowler Sylvester Clarke, said while he walked in his father’s shadow he was hoping to one day be better than his dad.
“I hear a lot of stories about all the things he has done, but I don’t remember a whole lot. There is pressure sometimes because a lot of people come to me and say they want me to be like him, but I think that if I really put in the work I can be better, I guess,” he said. (RA)
