THE 2017 EDITION of the Barbados On The Water Festival launched yesterday at the Harbourfront Centre in Toronto.

It kicked off in the usual style with good drink, positive words and signature entertainment which only Barbadians could provide.

Beginning with a Cocktail party by the Lakeside Terrace Room in Harbourfront, the specially invited guests enjoyed a signature cocktail, courtesy of Barbados’ own talented mixologist Philip Antoine.

Musical entertainment was provided by a tuk band, Nikita and Red Plastic Bag.

Chairman of the Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. Alvin Jemmott welcomed the Canadian and Barbadian contingent to this year’s festival.

Yvonne Walkes, High Commissioner for Barbados to Canada, expressed gratitude and joined Jemmott in expressing their aspirations, for not only the festival’s success, but the further deepening of Canadian/Barbadian bonds.

Following the launch, the audience flowed into the Concert Stage, where our own entertainment giants 2 Mile Hill, The Mighty Grynner, King Bubba & Nikita, Edwin Yearwood, Lil’ Rick gave them a taste of sweet Bajan hospitality, offering a repertoire of popular songs they knew and loved.

Rupee (below) brought the night to an end on a high note with his still popular song, I Am A Bajan.

The festival continues today with things Barbadiana, ranging from foods and crafts, to music, art and fashion. (SOM)
