Cave Hill rule tennis again

CAVE HILL have come out on top in tennis again. But only just.

It took the second of two off-court tiebreakers, but the Blackbirds managed to retain their UWI Games’ tennis title all the same after holding off Mona 3-2 yesterday in the final round of matches at the National Tennis Centre.

The result gave Cave Hill, St Augustine and Mona the same 2-1 win-loss records, and the three still couldn’t be separated on “sets won” as they all had identical 10-5 records there as well.

But the Blackbirds lifted the cup on the second tiebreaker, having won 69 per cent of the sets they played as opposed to St Augustine’s 66 and Mona’s 63. (JM)
