MINISTER OF INDUSTRY Donville Inniss says he is mindful of the challenges facing the manufacturing sector and intends to remedy the situation.
Speaking at the official opening of the Barbados Manufacturers’ Exhibition (BMEX) yesterday, he told his audience that he intended to do this by starting with possible changes to the imposition of the National Social Responsibility Levy (NSRL).
Effective July 1, the NSRL will be increased from two per cent to ten per cent.
While the minister detailed the very important motivation behind the implementation and subsequent increase of the controversial levy, he said there should also be an awareness of the impact it could have, particularly on manufacturing. (SDB Media)
