SCORES OF CHILDREN and officials of the Child Care Board welcomed Governor General Sir Elliott Belgrave to the Nightingale Complex, Black Rock, St Michael, yesterday.

There are about 81 children at the home, some of primary school age, and Sir Elliott’s visit was an extension of his tour of schools.

Kenneth Knight, chairman of the Child Care Board, said the Governor General’s presence was a realisation of his desire to visit the school before he demitted office.

Knight said the visit would have a profound impact on the children.

The goal was to have the children fostered, he said, but there was a need to have some in residence “particularly those who are challenged”. (JS)
