THE SCHOOLBOYS just can’t get over their Hawks hex.
Shaquan Newton had ten fourth-quarter points, including the go-ahead basket inside the final minute of Hawks’ tight 83-79 victory over NexGen Combined Schools Tridents in Saturday’s Co-operators General Insurance Basketball Premier League knockouts.
The thrilling last-second win put Hawks into yesterday’s quarter-final against title contenders Lumber Company Lakers at the same Barbados Community College venue.
It also gave them a third straight victory against the luckless schoolboys, who lost an even more heartbreaking one-point result in overtime at the buzzer and a similarly close single-digit defeat. (JM)
