IT WASN’T all smooth sailing for Jeff Panton and Mike Fennell Jr in Sunday’s Sol Rally Barbados.
The Jamaican pair returned a total elapsed time one hour, 10 minutes, 26.41 seconds to make it a hat-trick of wins in their Rubis/Sandals/KIG Ford Focus WRC 06 following wins in 2015 and last year.
But the three-time winners of the event were quick to point out that it was not easy.
“We had been going along pretty good until that third Toyo Tyres Padmore stage outside Bushy Park when all went wrong for us and we could have been knocked out of the rally. We had taken the corner wide and went into a wet and muddy patch and the back hung out and struck a wall and then we hit the front,” he told NATION SPORT after yesterday’s prize-giving at the BoatYard Seaside Restaurant in Bridgetown.
