Beef warning

AFTER HIS COWS were illegally slaughtered on a plantation, a beef producer is warning consumers not to eat any uncertified beef as it may be contaminated with poisonous chemicals.

Stephen Tempro’s appeal comes days after the cows were butchered at his Cleland Plantation, St Andrew farm.

The farmer of 28 years lost four cows in two weeks in the same manner. Thieves came on to the property on May 31 and June 10 and killed the animals, leaving parts of them behind.

In the case of Saturday’s slaughtering, Tempro had sprayed the animals hours before. He said there was at least a 28-day period before the meat should have been used. (SB)
