FOR THE WANT OF A SIGNATURE, the historic Single Officers Mess is slipping further into a dilapidated state.
And that signature, said vice-president of the Barbados Garrison Historical Consortium, Peter Stevens, has been pending for about 18 months.
The Single Officers Mess is that building at the rear of Graydon Sealy Secondary School.
The 1850 historic building where single British officers went to recreate, gained notoriety when, following damage to its asbestos roof in 2010 by Tropical Storm Tomas, teachers and ancillary staff expressed concern about the air quality and their health, with teachers even staying away from the school.
