Three times a breeze for Walrond

COAST GUARD officer Sheldene Walrond is the new queen of Touch of Class road tennis.

The “Smiling Assassin” comfortably won her third national title with a 21-17, 21-13 dismissal of Abigail Haynes when the fourth TOC edition climaxed in front of a large crowd at the Deighton “Pa” Roach Tennis Facility in Bush Hall on Saturday night.

Some threatening drizzles merely delayed Walrond’s capture of the top prize of $2 600 and a crystal vase after she had ignited the journey by toppling the three-times queen Kim Holder and putting out the latter’s daughter Kyana Holder.

Walrond also picked up another title and cheque for $600 after she had teamed up with Rachel Smith to defend their doubles crown from mother and daughter Kim and Kyana. (KB)
