UWI BLACKBIRDS negated the clash of the round and booked themselves a quarter-final spot with an extra time win over Barbados Defence Force Sports Programme (BDFSP) when the Stag Champions Cup continued at the Wildey AstroTurf on Tuesday night.

Khalil Gill finally broke the deadlock for BDFSP in the first half of extra time, after the two sides played to a stalemate, after the full 90 minutes.

Ranaldo Bailey headed UWI back on level terms on the stroke of the second interval, before Zeno Shepherd struck the most dramatic of winners to fire UWI into the final eight.

In the other encounter, Second Division team Blackspurs recorded arguably the upset of the round, after they came from behind to defeat Premier League side Brittons Hill 2-1 in a plucky encounter. (ML)
