DAYS AFTER A VIDEO showing a man being kicked by a policeman went viral, two experienced law enforcement officers have made it clear there is no place for brutality in the Royal Barbados Police Force (RPBF).

Speaking at yesterday’s 140th RBPF Passing-out Parade at the Regional Police Training Centre (RPTC) at Seawell, Christ Church, both retired commissioner of police Orville Durant and Acting Commissioner Oral Williams strongly rejected such action.

Durant, who was commissioner for 12 years, said any action taken should be proportionate to the situations officers faced.

“When you do enforce the law, you must do so fairly and firmly while demonstrating the respect for the dignity and rights of the offender,” he said during his feature address. (AD)
