SEVERAL TRADE UNIONISTS have gathered at Government headquarters on Bay Street, St Michael, for their meeting with Minister of Finance Chris Sinckler.

President of the Barbados Secondary Teachers’ Union Mary Redman and Barbados Workers’ Union general secretary Toni Moore were among those present as well as Moore’s predecessor Sir Roy Trotman.

The National Union of Public Workers (NUPW) is represented by general secretary Roslyn Smith and president Akanni McDowall.

They entered the meeting just moments ago, where discussions are expected to centre around the recent Budgetary proposals.

The NUPW has called for a rollback of the National Social Responsibility Levy or they will take industrial action, while Sinckler has warned there will be public sector cuts if the new taxes are not implemented. (RB)
