Beware of sharks

FISHERFOLK WANT SEA-GOERS to be mindful of sharks when they plunge into the ocean.

Kenneth Alleyne, who lives in Lynches, St Philip, said fishermen from the area had been spotting sharks quite often off the eastern coastline.

On Sunday, Alleyne’s neighbour Adrian Browne caught a smooth-skin shark weighing 257 pounds at Sargeant’s Beach at the end of Coles Road.

“Given the danger of sharks, I wanted the public to know that sharks are swimming close to the shore and sea-bathers should take caution,” he told the DAILY NATION yesterday. (SB)
