Civil servant forced to resign loses appeal

CIVIL SERVANTS can be forced to resign once found guilty of disciplinary charges.

Last Thursday, in a landmark decision, the Court of Appeal reaffirmed that power of the state.

The ruling in the case of James Ifill vs the Attorney General (AG) and Chief Personnel Officer (CPO) was made by a panel comprising Chief Justice Sir Marston Gibson and Justices of Appeal Sandra Mason and Andrew Burgess.

Ifill was a transport inspector attached to the Ministry of Public Works and Transport in 1984. (TKS)
