EASE ON DRUGS

THE BARBADOS DRUG SERVICE has been spared the increase in the National Social Responsibility Levy (NSRL).

As a result, Barbadians are in line to save some much-needed dollars, with some drug prices likely to return to levels before July 1, when some pharmacies raised their prices on the day the new NSRL rate took effect.

The Ministry of Finance has waived the increase from two to eight per cent on pharmaceuticals issued by the Barbados Drug Service.

A letter from the Ministry of Finance, dated July 11, 2017, and addressed to the Ministry of Health, revealed that a request for the waiver of the NSRL increase had been granted. (RB)
