IF I WERE ON THE Pic O’ De Crop judging panel, Observer, Billboard, Amazing Dre, Ms Sammy G, Sir Ruel, AC would be among those calypsonians from the C.O. Williams House of Soca tent heading to the semi-finals based on their performances on Wednesday night.
However, I am not and so it remains to be seen if they will be among 18 semi-finalists who would have been announced by the time you read this story.
It was two nights ago when 13 contenders faced the judges and the large audience in the auditorium of the Derrick Smith School in Jackman’s, St Michael, during a show that was too long, ending at 1:15 a.m.
The duration was one of the low points for me, considering that on opening night it ended about 12:40 a.m. and I expected it to end the same time, even with the inclusion of comedy from Trevor Eastmond, the giveaways the tent is known for and a few jokes here and there from MC Yolanda Holder. (GBM)
