THE CHAMPION drivers’ title of the Barbados Rally Club’s (BRC) could be going to Jamaica at the end of the season.
That’s if points leader, Jamaica’s Jeff Panton, can hold on to his three-point lead at the top of the title chase as drivers enjoy the summer break after the recently contested gruelling Sol Rally Barbados.
Panton won the Sol Rally with co-driver Mike Fennell Jr in the Ford Focus WRC06, and has 75 points after four of seven rounds have been completed.
For the first time, since 2011, and after a dominant run of four straight WRC class wins, Panton, who also leads the BRC 4-wheel drive championship, is the first competitor from the four-wheel-drive classes to lead the BRC’s champion driver title chase at the halfway stage. (TT)
