SENIOR CABINET MEMBERS have launched a major broadside against trade unions and the Barbados Private Sector Association as members of the two groupings prepared to hit the streets today.

“Only madmen would take the kind of decisions that have been taken over the last couple of weeks,” said Attorney General Adriel Brathwaite to a standing room-only audience at the St Giles Primary School.

He was referencing the decision by trade unions to hold a protest march against the increase in the National Social Responsibility Levy (NSRL).

“I’m very, very disappointed and sometimes I ask if we’re getting good value for money in terms of education because some of our people who are allegedly in leadership positions don’t seem to think through things carefully anymore,” added Brathwaite, at the FACT conference held by the ruling Democratic Labour Party. (CW)
