MULTI-EVENTER Aaron Worrell had to settle for fourth place in the men’s decathlon at the Pan American Junior Athletics Championships in Peru on Saturday.

Worrell finished on a total of 6 577 points in the gruelling ten events as the United States’ pair of George Patrick (7 514) and Kyle Garland (7 212) won the gold and silver medals, respectively.

Brazilian Jordan Santos (7 212) gained the bronze medal ahead of Worrell, who stumbled in the last three events, arguably his weakest.

Competing in the pole vault for only the second time on Saturday, Worrell earned just 357 points after clearing 3.00 metres and finishing sixth. He was fourth in the javelin with a throw of 43.42 metres, gaining 492 points and finished sixth in the 1500 metres in 5:14.95 minutes. (EZS/HG)
