Unions not disrespected, says Jones

DISRESPECT? WHAT DISRESPECT?

Minister of Education Ronald Jones has begged that question of the trade unions involved in Monday’s protest march against Government.

The march saw more than 21 000 Barbadians take to the streets of Bridgetown to support the trade unions and private sector, who are protesting the increase in the National Social Responsibility Levy from two per cent to ten per cent.

The march was led by the island’s four major trade unions – the Barbados Workers’ Union, the National Union of Public Workers, the Barbados Union of Teachers and the Barbados Secondary Teachers’ Union as well as the Barbados Private Sector Association. (AD)
