THE OPPORTUNITY TO be at the wheel of the Subaru Impreza WRC S12B of his legendary father Roger ‘The Sheriff’ Skeete made the world of difference for Dane Skeete last weekend.

Dane finished second behind Jamaica’s Jeff Panton in the Unleashed 17 Speed Event organised by the Motoring Club Barbados Inc. (MCBI) from Mount Gay to Pickerings, St Lucy.

“I am not being groomed to take over; just given the drive because the Peugeot is still in the shop. The old man just had some compassion on me and allowed me to drive the Subaru as my Peugeot 306 Maxi is still down after the problems suffered in this year’s Sol Rally Barbados,” Dane said.

Admitting that he had little or no preparation, he said he collected the car from Pro AutoWorks, took a little drive and headed for the start line. (TT)
