MEMBERS OF THE Drug Squad have arrested and charged two men for a number of drug related offences, allegedly committed on August 15, within the territorial waters of Barbados.

Tony Andrew Barrow, 53, of Oistins, Christ Church and Clive Dacosta Wilson, 48, of Callenders, Christ Church were charged for: unlawful possession of cannabis, unlawful possession with intent to supply, trafficking cannabis, and importation of cannabis.

Members of the Drug Squad and the Marine Unit conducted an operation at sea on August 15, during which a fishing boat carrying Barrow and Wilson was intercepted at sea. A subsequent search of the boat revealed three transparent packages each containing cannabis, concealed in a bucket containing fishing gear.

The estimated weight of the cannabis is 5.5 lbs with an estimated value of $20 000.

Both men appeared before Magistrate Edwin Watts in the Oistins Court on August 17 and pleaded not guilty to the offences. They were granted $30 000 bail and will reappear in court on November 19.  (PR)
