THE OTHER HALF of Barbados’ dynamic duo has his eyes set on a Grand Slam breakthrough of his own.

Darian King isn’t the only one looking to get into the main draw here, as Davis Cup teammate Haydn Lewis is hoping for similar success as the coach of American wildcard Raymond Sarmiento.

Lewis made the announcement yesterday while taking in a piece of King’s practice session on court 14, ahead of today’s start to the qualifying rounds.

“I’ve been travelling with Ray for maybe a year and a half now and we’ve had a great run the last month in three challengers as he made a semi-final and two quarter-finals, which jumped his ranking to No.280, and that put him in contention for a wildcard as he is American,” Lewis revealed. (JM)
